The science expo carries exceptional significance for China (Mianyang) Science‑and‑Technology City. Founded under the innovation‑driven development strategy, it delivers a fresh perspective for studying the new‑round revolution of science and technology.

At the expo opening ceremony, the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China released *Disruptive‑Technology Outlook (2025)*, covering 40 breakthrough‑potential technologies that may spawn forthcoming disruptive innovations.

Wang Zhuohao, Chief Engineer at the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, explained that multiple listed technologies correspond with Sichuan’s priority‑developed industries. Mianyang has deployed resources for frontier sectors including controlled nuclear fusion, robotics, nuclear medicine and aerospace.

Visitors to the expo can directly feel the surging momentum of scientific‑technological innovation.

The exhibition zone spans over 32,000 square metres, containing three major exhibition halls A, B, C plus the supporting service area of Hall‑D and outdoor square. It creates an integrated layout for display, experience and communication, covering artificial intelligence, low‑altitude‑economy and popular‑science interactive exhibits to fully present scientific‑innovation achievements.

Small‑sized yet highly functional. Inside Hall A, an on‑board autonomous obstacle‑avoidance module for low‑altitude unmanned aerial vehicles with a length of merely 10 centimetres equips drones with a high‑speed‑response intelligent brain superior to conventional visual sensors.

Large‑sized yet swift‑responding. The high‑rise rapid‑response fire‑fighting drone system can be handled by two operators and set into operation within three minutes. Matched with the lightweight compressed‑air‑foam system mounted on a pickup truck, it is capable of suppressing early‑stage fires in high‑rise buildings accurately.

Tao Xiongbing, Chairman of Dongguan Shengxiong Laser Advanced‑Equipment Co., Ltd., stated that the expo enables merchants to access cutting‑edge technologies and development philosophies, witness thriving scientific‑technological strength and strengthen exchanges and cooperation among universities, industries, research institutes and end‑users.

Open Up New Horizons and Empower Production and Daily‑Life With Science and Technology

Accelerated innovation speeds‑up the transformation of laboratory‑based achievements into market‑ready commodities to empower production and everyday‑life scenarios.

When stepping into the artificial‑intelligence exhibition zone, a Mianyang‑manufactured intelligent robot‑dog drew the eyes of numerous visitors. Developed by Jiuzhou Group and fitted with LiDAR, it supports real‑time decimetre‑level precise navigation and three‑dimensional mapping. It can process video data in real‑time, identify abnormal conditions and conduct active obstacle avoidance.

"During practical‑scenario demonstrations, the robot‑dog can accurately detect sudden obstacles ahead and detour right away, demonstrating dependable autonomous movement and responsiveness", explained Zhao Jun, person‑in‑charge of Jiuzhou Group’s exhibition booth. The intelligent core of the robot‑dog runs on the self‑developed Jiuzhang Intelligent‑Control Platform.

Every‑year, many scientific‑innovation achievements are brought to the public spotlight through this annual science expo.

At the opening ceremony, four local‑based enterprises including China South Industries Group Automation Research Institute Co., Ltd. brought 21 Mianyang‑made robots for the collective showcase and delivered a splendid performance for guests. Robots of multiple brands and models jointly staged a scenario play in this show, reflecting deep integration of "artificial intelligence plus cultural innovation".
